![]() Test day. At 11.05 am Saturday 2nd July 2005 my severn was lunched, quick check to see all was working and off she went, first run I did was with out the wheel house on so a quick circuit on the lake and all seemed fine, so back to the jetty to check inside and put the wheel house on. Run two out she went increasing the speed until she was flat out, up to the top end off the lake then turned he round to run flat out passed the jetty to check he speed, and she if she was as near scale speed as possible, we she coved 18.5 mts in 8 sc, that in my book is shifting. If you want to work out the scale speed of the model, you need the speed of the life size boat and the scale. Then the calculation is (speed of the real boat)/(square root of the scale). For example, if the speed of the life size boat is 25 knots and the scale is 1/12. Then the calcualtion is 25/(square root of 12) which comes to 7.2 knots. So I had a bit of a play and in doing so she blow a starboard fuse, back to the jetty changed the fuse checked to make sure all was still running free and out we went again, all was going fine until the port slide fuse went! In again, change the fuse, checked all was still free with the port side, out we went again Re did the run past the jetty at a slower speed , now she is running a bit bow heavy at the moment but comes on the plane very well even with the trim tabs set a 5 deg down. Now after a bit more full throttle both the fuses went, so it was back to change them but all I had was 25amps so put these in and went out for another run, I ran round on these for a good 40 minutes, running up to just over half throttle so in total I had a good hour of fun on the two 12 volt 7amp batteries, and they still had loads of power in them when I packed up. So why are the fuses blowing not sure yet, the next test run I am going to try 40 amp fuses, to see how these go, the ESC are rated at 40amps continually with a peak of 100 amps, so I will take it from there. The bow thruster was still not powerful enough, so I will now up grade the motor again to run on 12 volts and see what happens. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I have changed the props to 60mm on this run. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I shall be doing more test on Saturday 9th.July 05 | Scale Information | | The Model Build Part 2 | Model build Part 5 | Model Build Part 6 | Crew figures | Y-Boat | Sea Trials | | Motor Up Grade | 1/16th Scale Severn | 17-21 model Lifeboat Build | Tamar | Atlantic 21 | lifeboat photos on disc | | Return Home | Lifeboat General Photos | My Lifeboat Model Page | 1/12th Speedline Trent 14-14 Commission Build | Other scale lifeboats | |
